Quantitative data collection for the impact évaluation of a new radio drama dedicated to reducing violence against women

This study evaluates Twubakane, a six-episode radio drama by RWAMREC and NOVAH, aimed at reducing intimate partner violence (IPV) and promoting gender equality in Rwanda. Using a pre-post design with treatment and control groups, Only women will complete surveys at baseline and six weeks after the intervention Couples in treatment villages will attend group listening sessions of the drama.The study measures changes in IPV, relationship quality, mental health, and gender norms, while also exploring social desirability bias. Results will guide future improvements and possible scale-up of Twubakane.

Quantitative Listenership Survey for a Radio Drama on Reducing Violence Against Women

The Rwanda Men Resource Centre (RWAMREC), in collaboration with NOVAH, an international NGO, has launched a new radio drama, Twubakane, aimed at preventing domestic violence in Rwanda. The drama consists of six 15-minute episodes aired on RC Musanze from February 20th to March 10th, 2025. The initiative is inspired by a successful Ugandan project that reduced intimate partner violence by 25%.

Purpose of the Survey

RWAMREC seeks a research company to conduct a quantitative survey in the North Province to assess listener engagement with the drama. The survey aims to measure audience reach and impact, helping to determine the effectiveness of the intervention.
