On 23rd August 2025, GreenStars proudly hosted the Graduation Ceremony of the Research Capacity Building Program (RCBP) Cohort 2 - marking another important milestone in our mission to empower research enthusiasts and strengthen Rwanda’s research ecosystem.
Over the past six months, participants underwent an intensive, practice-oriented program designed to enhance their skills in:
- Data collection methods and tools, such as SurveyCTO
- Data cleaning and management
- Advanced data analysis with STATA, R, Python, and MAXQDA
- Report writing and presentation
- Project management, monitoring, and evaluation
This second cohort built upon the strong foundation of Cohort 1, with notable improvements in accessibility and collaboration. For the first time, GreenStars expanded the program beyond Kigali by opening an additional branch class in Musanze district, bringing the program closer to more trainees. This enabled us to run three classes across three different provinces, ensuring broader reach and inclusivity.
Another highlight of Cohort 2 was the stronger network and collaboration among trainees. Relationships forged during the program have created opportunities for ongoing professional partnerships and peer-to-peer learning. Responding to participants’ feedback, GreenStars also introduced a new sub-module on Office Excel, further equipping them with practical skills relevant to their careers.
The graduation ceremony was not only a celebration of achievement but also a testament to our shared vision: building a generation of skilled researchers capable of driving evidence-based decision-making for sustainable development.
As we celebrate Cohort 2, we also look forward to the next journey with Cohort 3, where we continue to refine, innovate, and expand the program to meet emerging research and development needs in Rwanda and beyond.
